Adamawa Judiciary Pledges Safer Business Reforms to Enhance Economic Stability

The Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, has assured business owners of the judiciary’s commitment to implementing reforms that will foster a safer and more efficient business environment. This promise was made during a training session organized for magistrates and court officials on the domestication of Small Claims Courts, a key initiative under the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms.

The training, held at Nyako Centre, State Secretariat, Yola, is part of the judiciary’s effort to ensure fast and effective justice delivery. Justice Abdulrahman, represented by Justice Kyanson Lawanson, emphasized the significance of the Small Claims Courts in delivering quick resolutions to business disputes, with cases expected to be resolved within 60 days. This initiative is crucial for protecting the rights and interests of traders and business owners, ensuring financial stability and efficient dispute resolution.

“The domestication of Small Claims Courts in Adamawa State is a key step in creating an enabling environment for businesses,” said Justice Abdulrahman. “Each zone in the state now has two operational courts dedicated to resolving business disputes within a 60-day timeframe, helping to safeguard the financial interests of business owners.”

The focal person for the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms, Bello Abubakar, reiterated the importance of having fully established Small Claims Courts to promote risk-free business operations in the state. He noted that these reforms are critical for fostering business confidence and encouraging investment.

State Commissioner of Finance, Augustina Wandamiya, and other speakers commended the initiative, highlighting the potential for the reforms to stimulate economic growth by ensuring businesses have quick access to justice and financial security.

Resource persons at the training addressed various topics related to the operationalization of the Small Claims Courts, stressing how the reforms would strengthen business activities and improve the state’s revenue generation.

With the judiciary’s proactive approach, Adamawa State is poised to become a more attractive environment for businesses, offering a legal framework that guarantees swift resolution of disputes and financial stability for entrepreneurs.
